About The Event

Topic: Sustainability of Climate-Friendly Transportation Systems in Africa:

Webinar on the Potential and Future of E-Mobility

Due to its heavy reliance on fossil fuels, the transportation sector is a major source of global greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. This results in climate change contributions and severe health impacts, particularly in urban areas. Shifting to sustainable alternatives like electric vehicles and improved public transportation is crucial for reducing this environmental impact. The negative impact on the climate from transportation extends beyond air pollution, encompassing noise pollution, land use changes, and resource depletion. As cities continue to expand and global trade intensifies, the need for sustainable transportation solutions becomes increasingly urgent. The associated infrastructure required to support these climate-friendly transportation systems, including charging networks for EVs, dedicated rail lines, and hydrogen refuelling stations, require significant capital expenditure for sustainability.
